I love this hotel, I gave a three star because when Ms. Maggie was the manager, hospitality was amazing. Breakfast made, the works. This time i traveled in and brought my husband and was saddened that the dinning room area now looks like a living room and there was no breakfast prepared. We had a very important morning and breakfast was needed, we had to leave to get food. I understand new management but please dont change the hospitality.

Our stay at the Alcalde was one of the best hotel experiences. And it starts with Maggie, the manager!! She is welcoming and accommodating and her continental breakfast was EPIC! It was beyond continental and she is an amazing cook! The hotel itself|is so beautiful and clean and has an iconic historical place in Gonzales history! But Maggie was the best, she was there to greet us and made sure we had what we needed for a memorable weekend. Maggie made reservations for us at The Bistro - ohhh so good! She gave us recommendations on places to go see and told us so many stories about the hotel history and the town itself. What a gracious person she is! I can’t thank her enough for this memory!! We felt like we left with a new friend which is a huge bonus!|I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to feel comfortable and cared for while staying in a historical landmark and the price was excellent! |Thank you Maggie, your family and friends are lucky to have you!! ||Dani and Brandie H.

This is the most incredible hotel we have ever stayed at, not because it’s fancy but because of the staff. We have been waited on hand and foot for four days. The hotel is rich in history, the likes of Bonnie and Clyde jumping out of the second story window to escape capture. Elvis resting before a performance and George Jones staying here. It’s very simple no stress atmosphere is a huge blessing. So if you’re ever near Gonzales stop by and see Maggie and her staff you will not be disappointed.

This is our second time staying here and I must say we will always stay here when we are in town. Maggie is fabulous! From her vibes, energy, and hospitality to her warm welcome. You can tell she does everything she can to ensure you have a memorable experience. Her entire staff is absolutely amazing! The food is all homemade from the biscuits to the blueberry French toast casserole! The burgers and fried pickles hit so hard! They also have board games down stairs in case the concert venue gets rained out lol. She started a whole party down stairs! Can’t wait to see you next year Maggie!!

Had my family stay 1 night. Upon check in, let them know the AC wasnt working. Came back late that evening and was told they fixed it. It still wasnt working. Came down twice to say something but no one was ever at the desk. Decided to make it work, took the blankets off and there was bloody hand prints on the sheets. Told the front desk the next more and showed them pictures. They said they would comp the room. Called back a few days later and were told we should have said something when we saw the blood and they weren't going to refund the room. The did give us breakfast and they believe that was good enough. Never again!

We loved our stay at this historical, beautiful hotel in Gonzales. Maggie the manager was the highlight with recommendations around town, delicious home cooked breakfast and great hospitality. It’s a boutique hotel with each room decorated uniquely and with such attention to detail throughout the hotel. It’s a living museum and hidden gem in Gonzales. We are looking forward to returning, soon!

Historic hotel, great furniture pieces. Location was perfect for downtown action. Staff is limited, no TV service in room, had to call manager for coffee to be made in the morning at 8 am. Really just depends on what you are looking for.

Beautiful hotel that has been restored to its glory with modern amenities. Maggie is the manager and gave us the grand tour with all the stories and history. I would definitely stay again!
